The Sower
Faithfully Spreading the Good News

June, 2010

Greetings in Christ Jesus! The calendar tells us that June 21st is the first "official" day of summer. However, it feels like it's been summer for several weeks.

Our summer Mission Journeys kicked off on June 6th (read more below). In addition, Teen Mission has been involved with several Vacation Bible Schools and weeks of Christian service camp already this summer.

Last week alone (June 13-19), we were the mission for VBS at three different churches: Gardenside Christian Church (Lexington, KY), Nelson Christian Church (Bardstown, KY) and Fox Creek Christian Church (Lawrenceburg, KY). Many dollars were raised for Teen Mission and several toys and school supplies were collected for children in Haiti.

THANKS
again to all those who helped.
Please keep us in your prayers as our summer schedule continues to unfold.

In Him,

Summer Mission Journeys are in Full Swing
20 Teams Involved in Projects Worldwide

During the first full week of June, our summer Mission Journeys got underway.

So far, we've had several groups travel to the Gulf South (New Orleans, LA, and West Orange, TX) and Appalachia (Beattyville, KY, and St Albans, WV).
Ken Henderson left this week with a group headed to Tanzania, East Africa. They will be working with churches in Dar es Salaam and Arusha over the next three weeks.

FarmersCCAlso this week (June 20-26), a team from Driftwood Christian Church in Vallonia, IN, is helping the Farmers Christian Church (pictured right), a few miles outside of Morehead, KY. The church received considerable damage to their basement and activities building from flooding in early May. The team will be remodeling the basement and working in the community.

IDES (International Disaster Emergency Service) in Kempton, IN, sent us $3,000 to help with repairs to the church building.

In July, more groups will be going to the Gulf South and Appalachia. In addition, others will be in Washington (Yakama Indian Nation), Haiti and Honduras.

Please keep all of the travelers in your prayers as they embark on several key ministry projects around the globe.
Dan & Toni Underwood Arrive in Belize
Barnabas Project Underway

I'm happy to report that Dan & Toni Underwood have arrived in the Central American country of Belize. They are heading up a new ministry initiative of Teen Mission, USA, called the Barnabas Project.

Dan & Toni drove their RV (purchased in April) to Belize and will be using it as their home and base of operations. They crossed the border into Mexico on June 10th and made it to the Mexico/Belize border on June 13th.

Dan called the TM office on Wednesday, June 16th, letting us know they had made it safely to Belize. Currently, they are operating out of Corozal (northern Belize) and working with a Church of Christ there.

The Underwoods will live in Belize year-round, helping nationals and churches in ministry. They will serve as hosts for short-term mission teams beginning in 2011.

All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do. - Galatians 2:10
