Teen Mission's ministry origins date back to September, 1963. A time when Martin Luther King Jr had just given his famous "I have a Dream" speech in Washington DC, John F Kennedy was president of the United States, and Pete Rose was finishing up a fine rookie season for the Cincinnati Reds. Also that month, a young Ken Henderson traveled to Wyandotte, MI, for his first "on the road" revival meeting.

Ken continued his traveling youth ministry and writing for Standard Publishing Company until December, 1970, when Teen Mission, USA, was born with Henderson serving as Executive Director. About 15 months later, TM, USA, became officially incorporated.

A significant milestone for the ministry occurred on August 5, 1985, when Mission Journeys was born as an outreach of Teen Mission, USA. Since that time, many wonderful stories abound of how God has used Mission Journeys to take the Good News of Jesus to hundreds of thousands of people in the USA & far away lands. We’ve fed the hungry, clothed the poor, tended to the sick, encouraged the brethren, built needed churches, schools, & homes. And we’ve preached, sang, taught, & shared the love and salvation of God. ALL in Jesus’ Name.

During the years since, God has granted great opportunities to share Jesus with hundreds of thousands of teens and adults in most every state in the U.S., and in several countries through revivals, seminars, Bible colleges, youth rallies, Bible camps and both public and private schools.
Our Present
Today, Ken continues to travel the country presenting several compelling topics geared to teens and adults. Creation, Ancient Egypt, the Holy Spirit and Christian Growth topics are the most requested. Ken’s preaching and writings have reached millions of people in dozens of countries for over 40 years of ministry so far.
Greg Herriford, has been with the ministry since 1995 and oversees the operation of the Mission Journeys outreach. What began as a couple of short-term mission trips each year, has now developed into a full-fledge mission program with many different types of trips and locations to choose from.
TM, USA, is currently pursuing a new area of ministry called Global Bible School. This new outreach ministry, headed up by Leonard Stone, will share the gospel of Christ with many eager students around the world by correspondence with American teachers.
Through this type of ministry, we will place ads in newspapers and magazines in various places around the world asking people if they would be interested in studying the Bible with someone in America. We will then collect the responses and find people interested in teaching. Those teachers will be equipped by us with curriculum.
Our Future
Change is nothing new to Teen Mission, USA, a mission/ministry of the non-denominational Christian Churches and Churches of Christ that has been constantly evolving through the years to meet needs around the globe.
At this point, Teen Mission is seriously and prayerfully considering expanding the Mission Journeys outreach by starting one, eventually more, Teen Mission "mission locations."
By that, we'd like to take what we've learned from different mission locations over the years and use them to help improve other situations. In a lot of locations, very little progress is being made between trips. It’s disappointing to us, but surely more to God. Our staff could get many of those smaller 1 or 2 man jobs done between trips.
Several locations have only nationals serving and they're very part-time because of working schedules. Working with them could be the encouragement they need to grow the church and become full-time.
All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.
